Welcome to our series of Meet The Council articles. Throughout these entries we will try to give you a chance to get to know the people working behind the scenes at BYBA.

This week we are meeting the BYBA Membership Secretary, Lisa Valentine. Lisa has devoted most of her life to the 1st Ibstock Scout Band. She started as a runner aged 8, then joined the Colour Guard at age 10. She stayed with guard for 8 years, until she was 18, when she then became Field Commander, a position she continues to hold. She also became Assistant Bandmaster around 10 years ago.

We sat down with Lisa to ask her a few questions:

What instrument do you play? Field Commander

What is the first show you marched in? 1st Ibstock Scout Band, 1994

Proudest banding accomplishment? Playing for royalty on a number of occasions.

Most embarrassing banding moment? Dressing up as the good with from the Wizard of Oz, extremely large pink dress and blonde wig included!!!

If you could talk to your younger self when they started banding, what advice would you give them? Enjoy it!!

What is one surprising fact about you? Not sure, I normally use the "I'm a member of a marching band" in these types of situations!

If you could invite any 5 people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would you invite? Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Jimmy Carr

What are you most looking forward to over the next season? Getting back to competitions and meeting and seeing other bands performing.

Check back next week, when we will be meeting another member of the BYBA Council!
