Fancy yourself as the next star of the marching arts? Are you always tooting and squealing, tapping and dutting, spinning and throwing? Then BYBA’s Individuals and Ensembles competition is your chance to share your passion by competing in a friendly and supportive environment with your fellow band geeks.
On Saturday 17 November in Northampton, young musicians and dancers from bands, schools and other organisations will come together from all over the country to showcase their talents. There are lots of mini-competitions to enter:
- Best individual performance (brass, woodwind, drums, mallets or guard)
- Best duo or trio performance (brass, woodwind, drums, mallets or guard)
- Best ensemble performance (wind, percussion, mixed or guard)
- Best fanfare
- Best entertainment
Musicians – you don’t have to play grade pieces if you don’t want to; in fact some of the best performances in recent years have been songs that everyone knows and you can even use a backing track if you want to.
You don’t need to perform on your band instrument – maybe you play the guitar, the bagpipes or the ukulele, maybe you tap dance or juggle – best entertainment is the category for you.
The rules are minimal – just perform for at least one minute and no more than four minutes. You could even be crowned Young Musician of the Year or Young Dancer of the Year.
There’s something for everyone, and with no maximum age cap and no requirement to be a BYBA member, there’s no limit on who can get involved. What have you got to lose?
