The British Youth Band Association is pleased to announce that the 2018 Summer Rhythm contest will take place at a fantastic new venue - Corby Town Football Club; where once again the Association will be collaborating with the Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association.
Paul Cartwright, Interim Performance Chair said "Daventry had served its purpose in providing a show in our summer season, though we were always on the look out for somewhere with additional spectator capacity. Corby had previously been identified, and with the level of 2017 entries as a result of joint working with TYMBA, it was even more important that a more suitable venue was sourced for 2018".
Andy Downton, Chairman of TYMBA and organiser for the traditional competition, said: “We’re proud to be working once again with BYBA for the Summer Rhythm competition. Last year’s event went so well for both of our organisations and I know our bands thought it was great to see our different styles side by side. It would be great to see as many people as possible lining the arena to see what youth marching bands are all about in 2018".
Dale Willis, Director of Liberty Drum Corps and Summer Rhythm went onto say, "After the success of last year's Summer Rhythm competition, we were keen to find a venue that could not only support the growth in number of bands entering but also give a really great experience for everyone who joins us for the day. We think that Steel Park, home of Corby Town FC, is a real find and we are looking forward to once again welcoming bands from across the UK to Northamptonshire"
Both BYBA and TYMBA, closely supported by Liberty Drum Corps, will be releasing further information in due course.
