Content

With a day packed full of practical sessions taught by an experienced team, instructors are sure to come away with some top tips they can put into action straight away. The training is suitable for young (minimum advisory age 11) and not-so-young alike; last year some very experienced bandmasters said they learned new things, so you are definitely never too old to benefit!

And what’s more, it’s just £2 per participant for BYBA members, one of the many benefits of joining the increasingly diverse BYBA family (and remember that membership is free for the first year if you are new to BYBA – what have you got to lose?).

This year we recognise the differing needs of traditional bands, drums corps and show bands by offering separate streams of learning.

Music

  1. chromatic brass
  2. bugles
  3. mallets
  4. drum corps style drumming
  5. traditional style drumming

Visual

  1. movement (for drums corps and show bands)
  2. drill (for traditional bands)

Too often we just assume that everyone can teach, so new for 2019 we bring you a stream focusing on how to teach, including learning styles, planning and organising.
